Block Effect

Privacy Policy

Block Effect keeps as little about you as it can. This page explains what the game handles, where it goes, and how to have it removed.

Last updated September 21, 2026

The short version

Solo and local play never leave your device. Online play and the global leaderboards run on Epic Online Services, which gives each player an anonymous player ID — you do not need an Epic account, and you only share an Epic account if you choose to sign in with one. The game has no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell personal information.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the Block Effect game on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS, and to this website, blockeffect.pterobit.com. Both are operated by 2680555 ALBERTA LTD. ("Pterobit", "we"). You can reach us at support@pterobit.com.

What stays on your device

Everything the game needs to play offline is stored locally and never sent to us:

  • Progress and settings — campaign progress, unlocked content, your theme and music choices, controller bindings and other preferences.
  • Custom levels you create. Sharing one is up to you: the game turns it into a code that you copy and send however you like.
  • The local leaderboard — the names you type for players on this device and their match and round wins.
  • Endless scores waiting to post — if you finish a run while offline, the score is queued on the device until the next connection.

Deleting the game removes all of it.

Online play and leaderboards

Online matches, invitations and the global leaderboards use Epic Online Services (EOS), provided by Epic Games, Inc. None of this happens until you open an online feature and connect.

Playing as a guest

Connecting as a guest signs in with an EOS device credential. Epic generates a random player ID tied to the game on that device; it is not linked to your name, email address, phone number or any other account. You also choose a display name, which is shown to other players in lobbies and matches — please don't use your real name if you'd rather not share it.

Signing in with an Epic account (optional)

If you choose Sign in with Epic account, Epic asks for your consent to share your basic profile, friends list and presence with the game. We use them for exactly this:

  • your Epic display name, so other players and leaderboards show it;
  • your friends list, so you can see which friends also play and invite them to a match — only friends who have themselves agreed to share with the game appear;
  • presence, so friends can see when you are in a Block Effect lobby and join from an invitation.

The game never receives your Epic password, email address or payment details, and it posts nothing to your Epic account. You can withdraw the game's access at any time from Apps and Accounts in your Epic account settings. A guest identity and an Epic identity are kept separate; the game does not merge them.

What other players and Epic see

  • In a lobby or match: your display name, player ID, ready status and the gameplay itself — your moves, board and score — which are exchanged with the other devices in the match so everyone plays the same game.
  • Your IP address: matches are played peer-to-peer. To connect devices directly, EOS shares network addresses between the players in a match; when a direct connection isn't possible, traffic is relayed through Epic's servers instead.
  • On the leaderboards: your best Endless score for the month and your total local match wins, shown with your Epic display name, or with the end of your player ID if you play as a guest.

Epic processes this data to run these services, under Epic Games' Privacy Policy. Epic may process it in the United States and other countries where it operates. We can see player IDs, display names, lobbies and leaderboard entries in the EOS developer tools, and use them only to run and support the game — for example, to investigate a report of cheating or abuse.

There is no text or voice chat in the game.

Purchases

Any purchase of the game or an in-game unlock is processed by the store you bought it from — the App Store, Google Play, or a desktop store. We never see your payment details, and we do not receive your name or email address from the store. The game only asks the store whether a purchase is active, and that answer stays on your device. Your purchase is governed by the store's own privacy policy.

Advertising, analytics and crash reports

Block Effect contains no ads, no advertising or attribution SDKs, and no third-party analytics. It does not use the advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

The game is built with the Unity engine, which may send Unity Technologies basic, non-identifying information about the device it runs on — such as the device model, operating system version and graphics hardware — under Unity's privacy policy for game players.

If you have allowed your device to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may pass crash reports for the game to us. Those reports describe the game's own execution and you can turn that sharing off in your device's settings.

This website

This site is a set of static files. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no fonts, scripts, images or embeds from any third-party host. It is served by Cloudflare Pages, which — like any web server — processes the request data needed to deliver a page and keep the service secure, including IP address and browser user agent. If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply to it.

How long we keep it

Your player ID and leaderboard entries stay with Epic Online Services for as long as the game's online services run, or until you ask us to delete them. Lobbies disappear when their last player leaves. Monthly leaderboards are kept as a record of past seasons. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to help you.

Children

Block Effect is a puzzle game suitable for all ages, but its online features are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Epic applies its own age checks to Epic accounts. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights and deleting your data

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to access, correct, export and delete personal information about you, and to object to how it is used. We rely on our legitimate interest in providing the online features you choose to use, and on your consent where you sign in with Epic.

To have your online data deleted — your player ID, display name and leaderboard entries — email us with the player ID shown under Multiplayer › Online › Copy my player ID. We will delete it within 30 days. Data held by Epic for your Epic account is managed through Epic; see Epic's privacy policy. Everything else is on your device, and deleting the game removes it.

You can also complain to your local data protection authority, though we'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described rather than folded in silently.
